Sunday Retrospective - July 27, 2008
Interesting day yesterday. We had around a dozen families that went on a camping trip together. There were at least 4 or 5 other families that were out of town for one reason or another. When you’re barely running 300 on a GOOD Sunday, that’s a major hit. I wasn’t sure what the day was going to look like…
Bobby brought about 15 or 20 of his interns from Global Youth Ministry, so that helped. And we had a lot of visitors. We only set up about 275 chairs, so at least it looked full. Ended up being a great Sunday…lots of energy from the congregation…I could really hear them singing yesterday, which I usually can’t hear.
Musically, we tried to change it up again by having a small vocal ensemble instead of individual praise singers…about 11 voices on risers. Bass, drums, acoustic guitar, and me on keys. Our worship set (links to iTunes where available):
All The Earth (Andrew Ulugia, Jack Hayford, Wayne Huirua) - This is a song from the Parachute Band out of New Zealand. It’s one of their better songs. If you’ve never heard them, I recommend their live album of the same name, I think it’s their best recording.
Through It All (Reuben Morgan) - This is an older tune from Hillsong, but I’ve always wanted to add it. We featured the vocal ensemble, just let the congregation listen. Now that it’s introduced, we’ll bring it back in a week or so and let the whole church sing it.
The Potter’s Hand (Darlene Zschech) - Another Hillsong…this followed a testimony from two young ladies back from mission trips. It’s a great song about being set apart and called to service.
Rising (Matt Redman, Paul Baloche) - Aren’t you singing this song yet at your church? Why not? ![]()
After the sermon -
Let Us Fix Our Eyes (Paul & Anna Joseph)
Trading My Sorrows (Darrell Evans) - both of these songs brought back the key scriptures from the sermon. Great way to end it.
We also did a Willow Creek sketch - a parody of Jeopardy, with three clueless people trying to answer questions about the Bible. Very, very funny.
(This week’s recap of songs is posted in collaboration with other worship leaders on the “Sunday Setlists” blog carnival at www.fredmckinnon.com)

“All the Earth” is a great song of praise, and I’ll be checking out “Rising”. Thanks for the heads up.
My Sunday was awesome!! We heard powerful testimonies from three people who were getting baptized. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the place! I love hearing testimonies of God’s goodness and how He draws people to Himself.

Hey,
Thanks a ton for participating in “Sunday Setlists” - it’s been amazing to see everyone else’s setlists.
Thanks!
