Watercooler Wednesday - What’s On TV? (Part One)

Anna and I don’t watch much TV. There are a few shows we try not to miss, and some other shows that we enjoy when we catch them, and some other shows we enjoy that we never thought we’d enjoy.

So, let’s break down what flickers across the cathode-ray tube and catches the Joseph’s attention:

NETWORK TELEVISION: Um…not much. I’m one of those weirdos that has never seen 24, Lost, Prison Break, Survivor, The Mole, The Amazing Race…all those “buzz” shows. Mainly because I’m never home when they’re on.
(And no, I can’t TiVo them. I don’t have a TiVo. That’s way up there on my “yeah, that ain’t gonna happen” list, along with a big screen TV and surround sound)
But we do watch:
The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson - He occasionally gets a bit crude, but I think this guy is really funny. And his approach to the traditional monologue is fresh.
The Local News
Star Trek reruns

So, that leaves…

CABLE TELEVISION: And the reason I love cable channels is that if you miss something, odds are they’re going to run it again soon. My channels of choice:

DISCOVERY CHANNEL - Dirty Jobs and Mythbusters are my favorites, followed closely by Cash Cab.

TLC - I’m a sucker for What Not To Wear. And I know there’s a real “love them or hate them” about Jon & Kate Plus 8, but we like to watch it.

Next week…the most surprising network of all, and why can’t I stay away from it?

What are your TV must-sees?

My must-sees are LOST, The Closer, and 24.

But there are many other shows I enjoy. I like scripted drama mostly, though I do also enjoy American Idol and the occasional House Hunters

We didn’t see 24 at all until halfway through the fourth season. And once we saw ten minutes of one episode, we were hooked. Went out and bought the previous three seasons, and have been diehard Bauerheads ever since. Get it. Rent it. See it. Join the Jack Bauer Revolution!!!!!

I also have never watched any of those shows! The only channel I watch is HGTV & food network! The discovery channel is next, we love cash cab!!

Fast becoming my favorite is “Diners, Drive Ins and Dives” on the Food Channel.

You get to see some absolutely awesome looking food being prepared in some hole-in-the-wall places. What a great job Guy has!

And a pretty cool vintage Camaro, too.
