Sunday Retrospective - June 29, 2008

The fifth Sunday of June. Months with five Sundays always feel strange to me by the time the fifth one rolls around.

We used a small vocal ensemble (10 voices) to lead worship today, rather than individuals on microphones. I like the change in energy. Drums, bass, acoustic guitar, and two keyboards rounded out the praise team.

Our set (iTunes links where available):

Celebrate The Lord Of Love (Paul Baloche / Ed Kerr) - This is from Paul’s “Open The Eyes Of My Heart” CD. As a keyboard player, I enjoy the Bruce Hornsby feel of the arrangement.
A Thousand Hallelujahs (Mark Roach) - Seriously, have you not bought this CD yet? What are you waiting for?
How Great Is Our God (Chris Tomlin / Ed Cash / Jesse Reeves) - Every time we do this song, our congregation connects with it more and more.
Blessed (Darlene Zschech / Reuben Morgan) - Straight scripture, beautiful music.
The Kingdom Of God (Paul Baloche / Mia Fieldes / Kari Jobe) - I love this song…but there’s two 7/4 feels in the chorus of a 4/4 song, and every time the congregation is clapping along, the 7/4 shuts ‘em down. Oh well.

How was your Sunday?
