“3000 Miles Wide And 3 Inches Deep”
According to this article on FoxNews.com, the Pew Forum has some new survey results out, and the statistics are sobering…
You can read the article for yourself, but bottom line: 57% of evangelical church attenders believe that many religions lead to eternal life, even if that conflicts with their traditional evangelical teaching.
In addition, 70% of “religious” Americans share that view, and 68% say that there’s more than one way to interpret the teachings of their own religion.
Read the article for yourself. I’d like to hear your thoughts and have a conversation about this.
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”
Is that an open-ended statement? Or are the 57% missing something?

It’s mind boggling - first of all they never asked me my opinion or anyone I know. That alone discredits their survey. No more jokes. My husband & I watched Katie Couric (for the first time) the other night and she was interviewing a Catholic Priest and an AME Minister and discussing the survey. I wanted to shout, “What Bible are you reading?” All I can say is - the day will come when they will find out just how wrong they are - by then, it will be too late. David, you are right on - Jesus is not only THE way but the ONLY way.

It’s a logical inconsistency that drives me crazy (I know, short trip). There’s no wiggle room in Jesus’ statement. 57% have missed the mark. There’s no reason to find superiority in that position as some might be shying away from. People lie to pollsters or tell them what they want to hear all the time, so there may be some “niceness” involved here.
God has made Himself known through creation, through the Word, and finally through Jesus. He is the way. I can appreciate the sincere faith of a Muslim, a Buddhist, a Hindu, or others. But it is wrongly directed if not to Jesus. That’s not to say they are without hope. Stories of direct revelation are increasing, where God steps out of the background noise and brings Muslims and others to Himself. But Jesus is the way.
