Close Encounters Trivia
“Close Encounters Of The Third Kind” was on Turner Classic Movies last night. (I like watching movies on TCM, because there’s no commercials and no edits)
“Close Encounters” is SUCH a good movie. I haven’t seen it in forever. As I watched the mothership come over Devil’s Tower, I remembered hearing a bit of trivia…so I did some Googling, and here it is…
The actual model used in the movie is in the National Air & Space Museum, in their facility near Dulles Airport in Washington D.C.

In a bit of whimsy, the model builders included a few special touches on the ship…including a Vokswagen bus, a submarine, an airplane, a cemetery plot, a mailbox, and R2-D2 from “Star Wars“.
If you have the DVD, you can freeze-frame the movie just as the ship crests, and get a glimpse of your favorite android, hanging around upside-down.

This is interesting and fun! Thanks for the cool pic of R2!
Thanks also for your candid authenticity on the previous post. That’s the kind of writing that I most enjoy.
