Sunday Retrospective - May 11, 2008

Interesting morning…

  • Our children’s music program (we call it WAK - Worship Arts for Kids) did a short musical for our worship time called “We Like Sheep”.
  • Because the stage was covered with AstroTurf, plants, and styrofoam mountains, there was no room for a band. We used an iWorship DVD to lead folks in an opening song (Chris Tomlin’s Forever). It went surprisingly well.
  • We completely restructured the room seating - from three sections, two aisles to TWO sections with one center aisle. Also set up less chairs. We thought the room looked much fuller, and people seemed to be more engaged and connected with each other. We’ll see what kind of blowback we get.
  • After a long weekend of meetings, the elder board voted unanimously to bring our number one pastor candidate into town. He’s coming next weekend, to preach at a special service Sunday night and hang out the next day for meet & greet. He’ll come Memorial Day weekend, and hang at our church picnic. Assuming everything goes well, we’ll vote as a church at the beginning of June. It’s still top-secret…we didn’t tell the church his name, as he’s a senior pastor and we don’t want to jeopardize his current gig if this doesn’t work out.
  • Anna looks cute in sheep ears. I should have taken a pic.

How was your day?
