Sunday Retrospective - April 13, 2008

Well, after last week’s service, we had no where to go but up. ;-) But it’s okay, I’m over that now.

We had a really impacting service. Great message - Bobby started a series through 2 Timothy. Too bad more people weren’t here to experience it. All the Dalton schools are on spring break this week. I don’t know how it impacts other churches in our area, but our folks pretty much disappear. Two weeks ago, we had over 300 people in worship. Last week it was around 270. Yesterday it was 230.

Yes, I know it isn’t about numbers. But when you have 230 people in a room that seats 500, it doesn’t feel right. It impacts how people sing, for one thing (if you’re standing and singing with about 20 empty chairs around you, it feels like you’re the only one singing and you get all self-conscious and you get softer. That’s a fact.). And it looks empty, which also affects people and how they feel. Give me a full room any day.

Our worship set:

Break Through (Tommy Walker) - It’s good to start “soft” from time to time. This song is an amazing prayer asking God to…well, “break through”…all the garbage we’ve brought with us.
Made Me Glad (Miriam Webster) - The chorus of this song lifts my spirit every time. What beautiful words.
Fairest Lord Jesus / My Only Crown (Paul Baloche) with We Fall Down (Chris Tomlin) - If you haven’t done Paul’s arrangement of this great hymn, get it and do it. It’s on his “Offering Of Worship” CD. We inserted the Tomlin song at the end, and then went back to “Thee will I cherish…” to close the medley. Very powerful and touching.
I Will Not Be Shaken (Tony Guerrero)
Let The Praises Ring (Lincoln Brewster)
- These two songs are great, but you really have to be careful not to take them too fast. The choruses of both tunes have a slew of lyrics, and if you’re a few beats quick, you really can’t spit them out.
After the sermon:
Everyday (Joel Houston)  - I like the arrangement on Lincoln Brewster’s “All To You…Live”

So how was your Sunday?

Thanks for this, Paul…I didn’t know that Tommy Walker tune, and I was looked for something like that for this coming week. Great tip!

Have a good week…

Love that Tommy Walker song and actually love the whole set. Thanks for the Chris Tomlin suggestion.

LOVE “made me glad”

that one is timeless.
