Podcast Prep

Okay, I’ve decided to dive in the deep waters. I’m going to start a podcast.

I think what’s finally pushed me over the edge has been a discussion on numerous blogs I read about a magazine that many worship leaders subscribe to and read. I think that worship leading 2.0 has gone beyond mags and CD’s, and is more immediate and interactive. And I want to be a part of that, and contribute what I can.

So, other worship leaders that drop by my blog…what would make a podcast useful to you?

Discuss.

I think it’s a great thing you are starting a podcast. There is not enough worship podcasts out there. Make sure you’re doing it for the right reasons though. I detected you were a bit annoyed over some of the magazine comments.

Anyway - I think I good podcast should have new songs, interviews and laughs! Have a listen to some over at worship central (tim hughes). It’s one of the best out there in my humble opinion.

I’ve been church hopping lately and it’s hard not to compare strengths and weaknesses between the technique of the leaders. As I see it, here are some of Your strengths that I think others could really learn from.
1. You have well written charts and play them methodically. It’s difficult sometimes to follow when the leader plays and or sings the music differently each time they play a song or worse every verse.
2. You transition strong. Everyone knows when the song starts and that helps the congregation’s comfort level.
3. You and Anna don’t let people come up and give 15 minutes of announcements DURING the set.
4. It’s great to have you AND Anna up there as a team. One man show’s are boring. It helps y’all keep things straight too.
5. Not scared to rock out.

There’s so much else you do well and I think there are many worship leaders who would use a podcast resource. Can’t wait to hear it.

Alastair -
I’ve been praying about doing a podcast ever since I started the blog. I’ve held off until I was sure, and these conversations are what has made me sure.
Not just out of annoyance…but God used it. ;-)
Thanks for recommending Tim’s podcast. I’ll check it out.

Hi Paul,
That’s great… was just checking! ;-)
