Sunday Sports

I spent the afternoon switching between the PGA Championship and the NASCAR race at Watkins Glen. It was a pretty interesting juxtaposition. One one channel, you’ve got very British and Scottish announcers speaking in hushed, reverent tones, and then you switch to the other and hear some hick say “Well, the 29 got up into the 13 and bumped him into the 12, and the 14 had to shut ‘er down…” (I know the numbers are probably wrong…sorry, I’m not a big fan).

I do enjoy watching Tiger play, even though I’m not a golfer. And while I don’t “get” NASCAR, I like watching the road course races…a bit more interesting to me than going around in a circle. (I felt bad for Jeff Gordon…almost won it and then spun out with two laps to go. Bummer.)
Of course, in a few weeks, my Sunday afternoons will become much brighter when my Buccaneers take the field.

Paul, if any Navy games are broadcast your way…Ben is in his senior year and will be starting this season at right guard. check navysports.com for schedules and channels. Of course, if any of you would like to see a game live….

So are you a fan of Dilfer?

I liked Dilfer. I had high hopes for Chris Sims, but man, that freak hit seems to have really taken him back.
The guy I really enjoyed watching was Shaun King. I wish he had gotten a better shot.
And I’m just not sure about Jeff Garcia.
One thing’s for sure…Gruden needs to produce this year, otherwise I think he’ll be shown the door.

Come on, Paul. NASCAR a sport? And golf barely squeaks under the bar to qualify as one!
