Super Bowl Observances
1) National Anthem by Billy Joel - Yeah, baby. That’s what I’m talking about. No over-the-top Mariah Carey wannabes, mangling the melody. Give me a straight rendition. Give Francis Scott some respect. Anna wondered what happened to the poor piano in the rain. Is it ruined? Will it be auctioned off for charity?
2) Fly-over by the jets - Dude, did you see how LOW those suckers were? I bet that sounded amazing. And scary as heck.
3) Halftime show by Prince - Yeah, he’s odd. And he’s written some incredibly vile lyrics. But the dude is an amazing musician. Props for a screaming guitar solo in the pouring rain. And for getting rid of the do-rag. And the Florida A & M Marching Rattlers was a nice touch. And what was with the amazon lady in the white? Nice selection of tunes, but I did think the ending was weak. I would have ENDED with “Let’s Go Crazy”.
4) Commercials - Lions trying to pronounce “Carne Asada” was hilarious…especially voice-over by Ricardo Montelban. Replacement for the “Fist Bump” was pretty funny too. Props for an obscure celebrity appearance by Robert Goulet.
